Why choose HUSH: how your garage door job runs, from first call to finished door

Every HUSH job follows one process: the owner answers, a factory-trained technician diagnoses the door, and you approve a written price before any work starts. If the work is not right within 90 days, the return labour is free.

How does a HUSH garage door job run, from first call to finished door?

A HUSH garage door job runs in five stages: your call, the arrival, the diagnosis, the written price you approve, and the repair and test. After that, the 90-day Done-Right Promise covers the work.

1. The call: you talk to the owner

Call (343) 700-1077 any day from 7am to 9pm, or book online. Omar, who owns HUSH, answers the phone. He asks what you see and hear: a bang, a gap in the spring above the door, a cable hanging loose, or an opener that hums and does not lift. Those answers decide which springs, cables and opener parts go on the truck.

The service call starts at $150, depending on your neighbourhood, and it is free when the repair comes to more than $250. There is no overtime or after-hours fee, ever.

2. The arrival: a set window, the same day in most of Ottawa

Most of Ottawa gets same-day service, 7 days a week. You get an honest arrival window when you book, instead of an all-day wait. A car trapped inside or a door stuck open goes to the front of the day as a same-day emergency garage door repair.

The technician at your door is Omar or lead technician Jamal. Before anyone comes out, you can meet Omar, our factory-trained garage door technician. To confirm we cover your street, check the Ottawa and Gatineau neighbourhoods we serve.

3. The diagnosis: the whole door, not only the broken part

Parts on a garage door wear together, so the technician looks past the part that failed. On a two-spring door the second spring has done the same number of cycles as the one that broke. A cable fraying where it winds onto the drum, or a roller with play in its stem, will fail on its own schedule.

The technician shows you what they found and explains it in plain terms before anything is priced.

4. The written price: you approve it before any work starts

You get the price in writing before any tool comes out, and no work starts until you approve it. The written price names the parts, the labour and the service call, and it includes the HST, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice.

Where there is a real choice, you see it priced side by side: a standard 10,000-cycle spring or a high-cycle one. You pick. If the technician finds something else once work has started, they stop and write a new price for you to approve or decline. If you decide not to go ahead at all, the service call is the only charge. The whole method is set out in how we price a job in writing.

5. The repair and the test: one visit, checked before we leave

Most repairs finish in the same visit, because common springs, cables, rollers and opener parts ride on the truck. When the work is done, the technician balance-tests the door by hand with the opener disconnected, then runs it through full open and close cycles. Then you run it yourself.

The invoice matches the written price you approved. We keep a record of every job, and the day the work is finished is the day the 90-day promise starts.

What does the 90-day Done-Right Promise do if a HUSH repair is not right?

Within 90 days of the repair, one phone call brings a technician back, and the parts and labour to put it right are free.

In practice, a claim runs like this:

  • You call (343) 700-1077 and say what is happening and roughly when we did the work. There is no receipt to find, because we keep a record of every job.
  • We book a return visit. A covered return carries no service call and no overtime fee, evenings and weekends included.
  • The technician finds why the repair is not right and redoes the work. You pay nothing for that labour.
  • A part we fitted that fails within 90 days is replaced free, parts and labour.

What counts is whether our work caused the problem. A door we balanced that starts drifting down again six weeks later is covered. A car that backs into the door a week after the repair is new damage, so we fix it as a new job with a new written price. The promise also excludes misuse, weather events such as a door frozen to the slab, and work or parts another company supplied. Every term, exclusions included, is written out on the 90-day Done-Right Promise page.

How do the HUSH promises fit together on one job?

Each HUSH promise does its work at a different moment of the job. Owner-operated applies at the call, same-day service at the arrival, factory training at the diagnosis and repair, the written price before any work, and the 90-day Done-Right Promise after.

  • Owner-operated, Ottawa-ownedThe call You talk to the owner, and the business that answers the phone is the business that does the work.
  • Same-day service, 7 days a weekBooking and arrival Most of Ottawa is reached the same day, with an honest arrival window, between 7am and 9pm.
  • No overtime or after-hours feeEvenings and weekends A Sunday evening repair costs the same as a Tuesday morning one. That holds on every call, not only on emergencies.
  • Factory-trainedDiagnosis and repair The springs, cables and opener are handled by a technician trained on them, not by a general handyman.
  • Every brand servicedThe parts and the repair One technician services Garaga, Clopay, Wayne Dalton and Steel-Craft doors and LiftMaster, Chamberlain and Genie openers, so you do not need a brand specialist.
  • Written price, approved firstBefore any work starts Nothing starts, and nothing is added, until you approve the price in writing.
  • 90-day Done-Right PromiseThe 90 days after Free return visit if the repair is not right.

Ontario does not license garage door work, so these promises are what you hold us to. Before you book anyone, us included, here is how to verify insurance and WSIB for any Ottawa contractor.

What can you check about HUSH before you book?

You can check HUSH on three things before you call: the published prices, the written guarantee terms, and how to vet any contractor. The service call starts at $150, free on any repair over $250.

A single spring starts from $275 and a matched pair from $400, and opener repair starts from $185. Prices are before HST. Cable, roller and other repair prices are on the published garage door repair prices page, so you know the range before anyone comes out.

For the people behind the business, read the full HUSH story and team. If you have a question about your own door before you book, contact the HUSH team any time.
